I was looking for a 1.4x teleconverter for my canon lenses. Finally, the Kenko C-AF 1.4x MC4 was very interesting. Due to it’s construction you can use it with almost every EF lens from Canon. So, the plan was to extend my lenses to 70mm f/2.0 (EF 50mm f/1.4), 140mm f/4.0 (EF 100mm f/2.8) and 280mm […]
My first attempt to catch a comet: Catalina đ I was surprised and fascinated about it’s “fast” movement…Â and I had to find out how to stack the subs in DSS to have Catalina in focus. Details
With the following settings I get the best stacking results with DeepSkyStacker 3.3.2 in combination with my Astronomik CLS CCD Clip Filter. With this filter the images have a strong cyan-blue tint. I use Canon RAW files for stacking. Options – Raw/FITS DDP Settings Uncheck White Balance Select “Bilinear Interpolation” or in some cases “Adaptive Homogenety-Directed Interpolation (AHD)” See DSS […]
The Astronomik CLS (City Light Suppression) CCD EOS Clip is a great filter against light pollution in a clip design for Canon EOS DSLRs. It blocks emissions of artificial light sources like streetlights and airglow. It enhances the contrast between our “desired” objects and the background. 92% transmission at 486nm (H-beta), 92% transmission at 496nm (OIII), […]

First test shots with my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.4Â @ f/2.0. I wish I had taken more subs… Also next time I will go to f/4.5 to avoid Chromatic Aberrations and coma in the corners. Details
Seriously, I’m finished with the kit lenses. They are very good for daylight photography. But in the night they come to their limits quickly. At the moment these 3 lenses I’m using for night photography: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L Hope for some nice widefield shots đ […]
